Job Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and highly organised Legal Accounts Assistant to become part of a busy and professional legal environment. This position plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of the firm, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and in line with regulatory standards.
Key Duties
Accounts Administration
- Maintain accurate financial records across both client and business accounts.
- Process incoming and outgoing client funds efficiently.
- Monitor account activity and investigate any inconsistencies where required.
- Ensure all accounting procedures adhere to current legal finance regulations.
- Manage electronic payments, bank transfers, and cheque transactions.
- Carry out daily banking tasks and allocate receipts accordingly.
- Handle online banking activities including BACS and CHAPS payments.
- Transfer costs from client accounts to office accounts in line with billing procedures.
- Complete regular reconciliations for client and office bank accounts.
- Support month-end and year-end accounting activities.
- Prepare financial information and reports for senior management when needed.
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial controls across the department.
- Produce invoices and legal billing documentation.
- Process supplier payments, disbursements, and operational expenses.
- Ensure all payments are assigned correctly to the relevant files and clients.
- Maintain compliance with legal accounting policies and financial regulations.
- Prepare documentation required for internal reviews and external audits.
- Support compliance monitoring and reporting activities.
- Previous experience within a legal finance or legal cashiering function.
- Understanding of client account management and legal accounts procedures.
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with legal accounting platforms and finance systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and general IT proficiency.
- Professional and trustworthy with the ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Capable of working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
