Legal Cashier – Brentwood, Essex Full Time | Permanent | Office Based | Competitive Salary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Cashier to join the Finance team of a well-established and growing law firm based in Brentwood, Essex.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous legal cashiering or accounts experience who enjoys working in a busy, professional environment and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Working alongside a supportive and experienced team, you will play an important role in the day-to-day financial operations of the firm, handling client and office account transactions, processing payments and ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.

The position is fully office based at the firm's Brentwood office, with free parking available.

The Role As a Legal Cashier, your responsibilities will include:

• Processing financial transactions accurately across client and nominal ledgers.


• Arranging payments through online banking, including international transfers.


• Posting HM Land Registry (HMLR), HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) and property search fees to client ledgers.


• Carrying out daily bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.


• Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring transactions are processed promptly.


• Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and Money Laundering Regulations.


• Providing financial and administrative support to colleagues, fee earners and management.


• Assisting with other legal accounting and finance duties as required.

About You We are looking for an organised, accurate and proactive individual with a genuine interest in legal finance.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of one year's experience in a legal cashiering, accounts or similar finance role.


• A good understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and Money Laundering Regulations.


• Experience processing financial transactions and working with electronic accounting systems.


• Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.


• Good IT skills and confidence using financial software and client ledger systems.


• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.


• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.


• A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Previous experience working within a law firm or legal finance department would be particularly advantageous.
