Lecturer – Mechanical Engineering, Robotics & Automation

Contribute to the overall success of our curricular area by assisting team members and the Academic and Quality Manager with the evaluation of learning and teaching. Help achieve the operational and strategic objectives outlined in the College Regional Outcome Agreement.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Learning and Teaching activities to a broad range of learners and in a variety of educational settings.


• Primarily teach candidates in subject areas of mechanical engineering


• Deliver a range or practical and theory classes relating to mechanical engineering.


• Evaluate and improve teaching methods and curriculum effectiveness.


• Collaborate effectively with colleagues to enhance team performance and curriculum quality


• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department


• Maintain accurate records of learner attendance and achievement

Qualifications and Experience

• Essential:


• Qualified to HND/Degree (SCQF 8/9\) or SVQ Level 4/5 in the relevant vocational area or Highest level qualification in the relevant discipline


• Relevant current academic experience


• Demonstrable experience in an engineering environment


• Driving License as Travel will be required within Fife


• Desirable:


• Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE)


• SVQ3 in an Engineering discipline


• Multidisciplinary experience in either electrical or instrument and control type role


• An in depth knowledge of the Fife Engineering sector


• Proven record of evaluative ability, to recognise areas for improvement and plan for excellence

• Effective communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills


• Ability to inspire, encourage, and motivate students


• Passionate about making a positive impact on students’ academic journeys


• Commitment to teamwork, continuous improvement, and maintaining high\-quality standards
