The role
------------

The School of Education is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to make a significant contribution to the School’s BSc Psychology in Education programme, an innovative interdisciplinary social sciences degree, and play a key role in the delivery of Masters level teaching.

Applications are sought from candidates who have demonstrable experience and a broad knowledge base in educational psychology but with particular focus in developmental psychology.

In addition to teaching across our undergraduate portfolio you will be expected to teach on our MSc programme. You will teach upon units based upon your area of expertise and current needs of the School.

The role is offered on a fixed term cover basis at Grade J, profile 1b (1 September 2026 – 31 August 2027\), and would be ideally suited to individuals looking to further their teaching experience in an internationally renowned environment with a commitment to excellent pedagogical experience.

Hybrid working is available (to be agreed) but you will need to be onsite for teaching delivery.

What will you be doing?
---------------------------

You will be required to effectively contribute to teaching on the BSc and MSc Psychology in Education programmes, taking a lead in particular areas dependent on experience; contribute as needed to the successful development of new techniques, methods, and tools to enhance teaching provision in the specialty area of psychology in education; provide effective individual academic advice and support to students; set and mark coursework, examinations, and other assessment tasks in a timely fashion and to an appropriate standard; self\-reflect on performance, responding to student feedback, mentoring, and peer observation and use the self\-reflection to inform and enhance future activities; work with colleagues across undergraduate and masters programmes to develop the field of psychology in education, including curriculum innovation and development. Contribute to the development of new teaching units and initiatives in areas attracting broader educational interest; provide effective pastoral support as a personal tutor to students, referring them on for further help and/or guidance as necessary; contribute to student recruitment events including open days and visit days.

You should apply if

  • You have a Doctoral level qualification in a discipline relevant to Psychology and BPS chartered status or eligibility for chartered status.

  • You have the experience and ability to deliver high quality teaching in psychology in education at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, with a focus on developmental psychology.

  • You either have experience of or willingness to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects and dissertations.

  • You have excellent collaboration and team working skills to enable positive contributions to a collegiate working environment and to relevant teaching teams and research groups, and excellent written and oral communication skills commensurate with scholarly work in one of the world’s premier universities.

  • You have the ability to work with initiative and imagination, and to make innovative contributions to the school’s research and teaching.
