We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and creative Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly, hardworking and supportive team in this popular village school for September 2026\.

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated person who is both passionate about supporting children’s learning and committed to keeping children safe. We offer an ambitious and creative place to work with staff who are happy to assist and support each other. We work collaboratively with other local schools in different ways, including the schools in the Learning Partners Trust, and are constantly on the look\-out for opportunities to enhance our provision. The role will involve supporting specific children to access their learning, but also in undertaking other usual classroom duties whilst working alongside the children as directed by the class teacher. This could include reading, administering the ISPs, working with intervention groups, working 1:1 with target children, working in the class alongside the groups and undertaking break and lunch\-time duties. All applicants should have the flexibility and potential to work in any year group across the school. Although many of the responsibilities and expectations below are generic to the role of a learning support assistant (LSA), we are looking for someone with experience working with children with SEND, including an understanding of strategies to support children when they dysregulated and reluctant to engage with learning.

Job Purpose

To work with teachers to support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of teaching staff and may be responsible for some learning activities within the overall teaching plan. The LSA role takes the responsibility for ensuring the participation of pupils in the social and academic practices of the school, enabling pupils to become more independent learners thereby helping to raise standards of achievement for all. To undertake specific duties across the school day as directed by the leadership team and provide support for any children who need it. They will usually work with small groups of children but may sometimes supervise or lead learning for whole classes, maintaining good order and keeping pupils on task. To role model the school’s values and be a fully integrated member of the school team and community with safeguarding at the heart of everything they do.

Applicants should have:

  • A good level of written and spoken English.
A good level of numeracy.
  • Basic IT skills.

  • The ability to follow instructions.

  • The ability to plan and prioritise regular and irregular tasks.

  • The ability to clarify and explain instructions to pupils.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with pupils and adults.

  • The ability to motivate pupils to learn.

  • The ability to assist with the organisation of the learning environment.
