Location: Dawn House School, Rainworth, Nottinghamshire
Salary: Actual £22,277\.15 \- £22,960\.67 (£25,063 \- £25,832\)
Working pattern: Permanent contract, working 35 hours per week; Term Term time plus 1 week during the school closure period (total working weeks 40 weeks per annum).
Start Date: September 2026
Role Overview
We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and enthusiastic Learning Mentor to join our Wellbeing Team at Dawn House School. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people with complex speech, language and communication needs. Through one\-to\-one mentoring, group interventions and collaborative working, you will play a key role in promoting positive wellbeing, engagement and successful learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional wellbeing, confidence and engagement in learning.
- Deliver planned one\-to\-one and group interventions to address individual barriers to learning.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, the Wellbeing Team and families to develop and implement effective support strategies.
- Support pupils with attendance, punctuality, behaviour, self\-esteem and personal development.
- Contribute to transition planning for pupils moving between classes, key stages or into further education and employment.
- Maintain accurate records, monitor progress and contribute to reports and reviews.
- Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to support.
- Has experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs or communication difficulties.
- Is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
- Builds positive relationships through empathy, patience and excellent communication skills.
- Is calm, resilient and confident when supporting pupils with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.
