Lead Pharmacist Mental Health Services
We are seeking a specialist Pharmacist to join the Powys Teaching Health Board Pharmacy team to provide clinical leadership to shape mental health pharmacy services. We are looking for someone with mental health pharmacy experience and strong communication, leadership and organisational skills, who is motivated and passionate about patient care and wants to improve patient services.
Working closely with a dedicated senior pharmacy technician, wider pharmacy/medicines management team and an established and experienced multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, effective and person\-centred use of medicines across inpatient wards, community mental health services and will provide support to primary care colleagues around mental health medicines. This is an opportunity to influence strategy, improve patient outcomes, and to optimise psychiatric therapeutics across a whole health system.
The post offers a permanent post of up to 37\.5 hours per week, the role will be a Powys wide role with support for inpatient areas within south and mid Powys. There can be flexibility in hours worked and in base within mid or south Powys.
You will support a wide range of mental health services including acute adult and older adult mental health, learning disabilities, community mental health teams, crisis services, substance misuse and dementia care, with links to CAMHS and perinatal services.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing highly specialist expertise and leadership in mental health medicines and psychiatric therapeutics
Leading the strategic direction for medicines optimisation across all mental health services in Powys
Delivering and developing clinical pharmacy services across inpatient and community mental health settings
Overseeing medicines governance, safety, and compliance with legislation and best practice
Shaping and implementing policies, guidelines, and formulary decisions
Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to support complex patient care and medication optimisation
You will attend ward rounds and MDT meetings, provide medicines advice across care settings and support high standards of medicines safety and governance.
