Lead Full-Stack Engineer
Dublin (hybrid), with candidates elsewhere in Ireland considered. Full\-time, permanent.
The Role
We're looking for an engineer who builds with AI daily, can make technical calls with confidence, and brings strong leadership and clear thinking to the work.
Coastline Gaming operates 11 venues across Ireland plus Slotbox online casino, and bring a startup mindset to building an established and growing business. The directors use Claude Code in their own workyou won't be persuading anyone that AI\-assisted building is worth doing. You'll be joining people already doing it and expected to push it further than they have.
Working across online gaming and physical venues gives you an unusual mix of product and engineering challenges. You'll help build the digital customer experience and the software used on the ground, with access to the people using both. You'll have a hand in the early decisions on new builds as well as improving existing products. The role gives you room to take responsibility for projects while staying involved in the engineering yourself.
What You'll Do
- Build customer\-facing applications and new frontends for our online casino brands.
- Develop APIs and integrations that connect our customer products and business systems.
- Work with staff to find where better software would help, then build internal tools that solve those problems.
- Help set technical direction: how systems fit together, which architecture makes sense, and when to build, adapt or buy.
- Manage several projects at once, agree priorities with the directors and give engineers clear ownership of the work.
- Help other engineers work through difficult problems, review code and improve how the team builds with AI.
- You build with AI daily. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or equivalent tools are central to how you work. You try new approaches, know where they help and can show us what you've built.
- You get to grips with unfamiliar systems quickly. You ask useful questions, test your assumptions and know when to ask someone who knows more.
- You can challenge a brief. You work out whether it solves the right problem and can explain a simpler approach when there is one.
- You've managed people and several projects while continuing to build yourself. You can explain what needed your attention, what you delegated and how you handled problems. Managing a small team counts.
- You've earned broader responsibility within an organisation and can show what changed as you took on more. Experience building and leading in a startup or smaller team is particularly relevant.
- You can make technical decisions and explain the trade\-offs. You understand what a change means for the users and the other systems involved.
- You judge your own work. You check AI\-generated changes, look for what could fail and change your approach when the evidence calls for it.
Compensation is open for the right person. You must already be based in Ireland and have the right to work in the Republic of Ireland. The main office is in Dublin and the role is hybrid; we'll consider the right person elsewhere in Ireland.
