Key Account Manager (KAM) – Energy Sector

The Role
As a Key Account Manager, you’ll take full ownership of a portfolio of customer accounts, with responsibility for driving both new business and renewals. You’ll manage your pipeline end to end, from initial opportunity through to close, ensuring speed, accuracy, and a consistently high standard of service.
This is not a passive account management position. You’ll be expected to actively grow your accounts, identify opportunities, and maximise revenue across your customer base. Working closely with Business Development Managers, you’ll ensure no opportunity is missed.
You’ll also build strong, trusted relationships with your customers, positioning Business Energy Direct as their go\-to provider through consistent communication, reliability, and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage your sales pipeline from start to finish
- Drive new business revenue and maximise renewal conversion rates
- Deliver fast, accurate quotations aligned to customer needs
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Manage full contract lifecycles, including renewals and retention
- Maintain disciplined CRM usage and pipeline tracking
- Collaborate with internal teams to maximise account performance
- Minimum 2 years recent experience within the non\-domestic energy supply sector (supplier, broker, or consultancy experience essential)
- A proven track record of hitting KPIs and sales targets
- Strong commercial awareness and a proactive mindset
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Highly organised with strong pipeline and time management discipline
- Ability to manage multiple priorities without losing revenue focus
- Ambitious, driven, and motivated to progress career
What Success Looks Like

- New business revenue
- Renewal conversion rates
- Net retention
- Quote turnaround times
- Strength and quality of customer relationships
- Salary: £35,000 – £60,000\+ depending on experience
- Excellent annual leave policy (23 days annual leave (excluding public holidays), Christmas closure period, option to buy or sell up to 1 week of annual leave and opportunity to earn up to 5 additional days leave based on long service
