Junior WordPress Developer & Web Designer
About the Role
We’re looking for a Junior WordPress Developer \& Web Designer to join our team and help
design, build and maintain high\-quality WordPress websites.
This is a hands\-on role covering both design and development. You’ll take projects from initial
concepts and designs in Figma, through to development, testing and launch.
We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in web development, strong attention to detail
Key Responsibilities
● Design responsive websites and interfaces using Figma.
● Translate Figma designs into high\-quality, responsive WordPress websites.
● Develop and customise WordPress themes and functionality.
● Build flexible WordPress websites using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
● Develop front\-end functionality using HTML, SCSS, JavaScript, React and jQuery.
● Develop and customise WordPress functionality using PHP.
● Apply Object\-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles where appropriate.
● Work with REST APIs, JSON and Server\-Sent Events (SSE).
● Set up and manage local WordPress development environments using Local by
Flywheel (Local).
● Use Git/GitHub for version control.
● Test, debug and optimise websites across devices and browsers.
● Work with the wider team to deliver projects from design through to launch.
Essential Skills \& Experience
We’re looking for working knowledge and hands\-on experience in:
● WordPress
● PHP
● HTML5
● SCSS / CSS
● JavaScript
● React
● jQuery
● Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
● Figma
● Object\-Oriented Programming (OOP)
● REST APIs / JSON
● Server\-Sent Events (SSE)
● Local by Flywheel (Local)
● Git / GitHub
You don't need to be an expert in every area, but you should be comfortable understanding
existing code, making changes and troubleshooting problems independently.
AI\-Assisted Development
We actively encourage the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude and similar
tools as part of our development workflow.
However, AI is there to assist you — not do the job for you.
We’re looking for someone who uses AI to:
● Research and learn new technologies.
● Investigate bugs and find potential solutions.
● Explore different approaches.
● Speed up repetitive development tasks.
● Review and improve code.
● Generate ideas and test cases.
You must be able to understand, review, test, modify and debug AI\-assisted code and explain
why your chosen solution works.
We are not looking for someone who simply generates a website using AI without understanding the underlying code.

Desirable
● Custom WordPress theme or plugin development.
● Gutenberg / WordPress Block Editor.
● WooCommerce.
● Experience with ACF Repeater / Flexible Content.
● Experience integrating third\-party APIs.
● Experience with website performance and accessibility.
● Experience working in an agency or client\-focused environment.
Job Types: Full\-time, Permanent
Pay: £30,000\.00\-£35,000\.00 per year
