JUNIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR / ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER
A requirement now exists for a Junior Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Project Manager to join GPX Rail. This is primarily an office\-based role in our Naas office, working under the supervision of the Senior QS / Project Manager. Current day hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30\-17:00, with flexi\-time arrangements available. The successful applicant will assist with commercial management, contract administration and project coordination from tender through to completion. Attendance at client, project and site meetings will be required from time to time. Previous rail experience would be beneficial but is not essential; relevant rail and safety training will be provided.
*Main Duties \& Responsibilities*
*Quantity Surveying / Commercial Duties*
Assist with preparation of cost estimates, tenders and project pricing documents for civil and rail works
Review drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and other tender information
Prepare internal pricing schedules where client tender information is limited or incomplete
Source and compare prices for materials, plant and subcontract works
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain and evaluate quotations
Assist with measurement, valuations and project cost tracking
Maintain records of variations, additional works and supporting commercial information
Assist with preparation of payment applications
Assist in the assessment of subcontractor claims and payments
Support subcontractor procurement and engagement
Assist with commercial and project close\-out activities
*Contract \& Project Administration*
Maintain records of Task Orders, quotations, approvals, instructions and certificates
Track key contractual and commercial dates, including quotations due, Task Orders expected or received, and payment / certification milestones
Maintain project trackers and follow up outstanding actions
Assist with project documentation from award through to completion
Maintain organised commercial and contractual records for each project
*Project Management Duties*
Assist with project planning and coordination from award through to completion
Monitor project programmes and key dates and flag potential delays, access issues or outstanding actions
Assist with coordination of subcontractors, suppliers and internal resources
Attend client, project and site meetings as required
Assist with preparation and coordination of Road Opening Licence applications, Permits to Work and other project requirements
Assist with the coordination of project documentation relating to Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements
Maintain clear and accurate project records and support coordination between commercial, project and operational teams
*Desirable*
Previous experience in civil engineering, infrastructure or rail projects
Experience using Microsoft Project or similar project planning software
Familiarity with tender documents, BOQs, pricing schedules, valuations and variations
Familiarity with typical project workflows from tender through to completion
Experience or understanding of subcontractor procurement and evaluation of quotations
Some understanding of contract administration, project trackers and commercial records
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and other project documentation
Previous experience liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
