Salary: National Minimum/Living Wage (age\-dependent — currently £12\.71 per hour for ages 21\+, lower rates apply under 21 per UK law)
Are you looking to break into a genuinely specialist engineering trade — not another routine trainee role, but a real, structured route into a niche, high\-value industry?
At Adelco, we design and manufacture some of the most advanced automated digital textile printing systems in the world — combining robotics, inkjet technology, and high\-speed production. Very few engineers in the UK have hands\-on experience with this kind of equipment, which makes this a genuinely rare entry point into a specialist field with strong long\-term career value.
The Role
We're looking for a motivated junior to join our team and be trained, hands\-on, by our Service Manager — learning everything needed to become a fully\-fledged Field Service Engineer. This is a structured, mentored route into the role, not a sink\-or\-swim trainee position. You'll be based out of our head office in Bordon, Hampshire (GU35 0AX), with the expectation that you'll also travel — both within the UK and internationally — to support installations and servicing as your training progresses.
This is an exceptional opportunity for someone early in their career: full training is provided across every aspect of the job — not just the technical field\-service side, but also the office side, including CRM systems and service paperwork — giving you a complete, well\-rounded skill set that's hard to find anywhere else.
You'll be responsible for (as training progresses):
Shadowing and assisting on customer site installations across the UK and internationally
Learning to service digital printing systems — preventative, scheduled, and emergency maintenance
Supporting customers with enquiries, spare parts, and technical troubleshooting
Learning CRM systems and service administration/paperwork
Building toward full independent field service work
Key Requirements
Full UK driving licence (required)
Willing and able to travel both within the UK and internationally as part of training and the role
Genuine interest in engineering, technology, or mechanical/electrical work
Good communication skills and a professional manner with customers
Comfortable learning both hands\-on technical skills and office\-based systems (CRM, paperwork)
No prior experience necessary — full training provided
Progression
This role is a genuine stepping stone. With structured mentorship from our Service Manager, the aim is to grow you into a fully qualified Field Service Engineer, with a clear path to the pay, autonomy, and responsibility that comes with the senior role — a rare, well\-supported route into a specialist trade that most engineers only find years into their career.
Benefits
Full, structured training and mentorship from an experienced Service Manager
Genuine career progression into a specialist, well\-paid engineering trade
28 days annual leave (includes bank holidays)
Contributory pension
Company van, corporate clothing, smartphone and laptop provided once field\-ready
If you're at the start of your career and want a genuinely exceptional, hands\-on route into a specialist engineering trade — not just another entry\-level job — we'd love to hear from you.
IMPORTANT
Applicants must be willing and able to travel both within the UK and internationally as required for training and the role. Please note we are unable to provide sponsorship. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
