Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self\-motivated Junior Electrical Engineer who thrives in a fast\-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks within our Rolling Stock Engineering Department. The position is based in Pistoia or Napoli \- IT.

Accountabilities

The main accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS) for electrical components


• Analyze and assess technical documentation from Suppliers


• Prepare and verify electrical system installation/integration drawings/specifications (including material selection, electromagnetic/thermal analysis, etc.)


• Perform simulations to optimize electrical systems performance and energy efficiency


• Conduct design reviews (both internal and with suppliers) for the assigned work package, under the supervision of relevant Engineering Managers and Project Engineers


• Attend at system stand\-alone type test and review of type test reports


• Support manufacturing, testing and validation phases


• Review design documentation with customers and suppliers


• Prepare electrical schematics, collaborating with mechanical design teams to ensure seamless electromechanical integration


• Prepare the Bill of Materials (BoM) of electrical schematics


• Ensure compliance with input requirements, international railway regulations and standards and project constraints (time, cost, quality)


• Prepare the documentation required for vehicle approval and support the homologation phase

• Basic knowledge of electrotechnics and electronics disciplines


• Basic knowledge of design verification and validation methodologies


• Basic knowledge of electrical CAD tools (E3 preferred)


• Basic knowledge of electrical components (relays, circuit brakers, cables, connectors, etc.)


• Basic knowledge of electrical schematics design


• Basic knowledge of electrical machine design principles


• Basic knowledge of electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., Ansys Maxwell, Motor\-CAD).


• Basic knowledge of thermal and electromagnetic analysis


• Good knowledge of office automation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)


• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast\-paced, international and multicultural environment


• Good organizational skills, alongside team\-working, problem\-solving and results\-driven mindset


• Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers, partners, customers)


• Ability to work within project teams under minimal supervision


• Availability for occasional short\-term national and international business trips

• Minimum experience (1\-2 years) in the Railway sector or in complex industrial environments


• Basic knowledge of main railway regulations and standards


• Basic knowledge of IBM DOORS requirements management tool


• Basic knowledge of engineering processes and railway operations


• Familiarity with traction systems and power converters


• Basic knowledge of RAMS principles and processes


• Fast learner with strong willingness to stay up to date with technological developments


• Good business acumen combined with solid technical skills


• Good communication and interpersonal skills

Master's Degree in Engineering (Electrical and Electronics disciplines preferred).

Languages

Knowledge of written and spoken English (at least B2 level).
