We are looking for a Data Scientist \- Commercial Insights to work with our Commercial teams (primarily marketing and supply) and leverage data to identify commercial opportunities from understanding the marketplace balance of the platform to scaling the demand/offering in a given category.
You will be part of the Data Science \& Insights team helping us make sense of our data, finding actionable insights and creating self\-service opportunities by combining data from multiple sources and working closely together with your colleagues in other departments.
In this role, no two days will be the same: you will build ad hoc analyses, design and analyse commercial activations, uncover trends in user behaviour, communicate about the impact of a new initiative or enhance the reliability of our data pipelines. Whatever the task, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping Catawiki's commercial strategy and influencing our stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Turn data into insights and recommendations –At Catawiki, you'll help teams make better decisions with clear, reliable analysis. You'll work with stakeholders to understand business questions, define success measures, uncover trends and turn data into practical recommendations.
- Work on a wide range of analytics projects –You'll contribute to different types of work, from ad\-hoc analysis and dashboarding to data pipelines, advanced analytics and experiments. You'll learn how to choose the right approach for each question and turn your work into insights that teams can use.
Who You Are
- Early\-career profile – You have 0–2 years of relevant experience in analytics, data or a related field. You can demonstrate relevant experience through internships, academic projects and/or teaching experience.
- Business\-minded and analytical – You have a strong quantitative mindset and an interest in understanding how businesses work. You enjoy going beyond the numbers to understand the "why" behind trends and can turn data into practical recommendations that help teams make better decisions.
- Technical foundation and eagerness to learn – You have knowledge of SQL and an interest in developing your technical skills further. You're eager to learn tools and languages such as Python or R, and gain experience with data visualisation tools like Looker Studio, Tableau or Power BI.
- Foundation in statistics – You have a good understanding of core statistical concepts and are interested in applying them to real business questions. You're eager to learn techniques such as hypothesis testing, experimentation, regression analysis and trend analysis to extract meaningful insights.
- Proactive and entrepreneurial mindset – You take ownership, solve problems autonomously, and drive initiatives forward—even when it means stepping outside your comfort zone.
- Strong communicator – You can explain complex analyses and technical concepts in a clear and simple way, adapting your communication to different audiences.

Our Offices and Way of Working
Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire collaboration. Most Catawikians operate in a hybrid setup, combining office\-based and remote work, with a minimum of two days per week in the office, unless a role is explicitly stated as fully remote or fully office\-based.
