Junior Business Development Manager (Part-Time, Remote )
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Business Development Manager to support the growth of a specialist water utilities installation company. The role is primarily remote, with occasional in\-person meetings in the London area (typically no more than twice per month, and likely less frequently as the role develops).
The successful candidate will focus on generating and developing new business opportunities, building relationships with developers and contractors, and helping expand the company’s presence within the water utilities sector.
General business administration duties are included.
This role would suit someone with experience in utilities, construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure\-related business development – or the has the desire to increase their knowledge in these areas.
The successful candidate will be an effective communicator who is comfortable working independently and building relationships over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the water utilities and construction sectors
- Generate leads and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective clients and projects
- Build relationships with developers, contractors, consultants, and related stakeholders
- Support tender opportunities and early\-stage project discussions
- Develop understanding of client requirements and coordinate internally where required
- Attend occasional in\-person meetings in London and surrounding areas
- Maintain CRM records and provide regular pipeline updates
- Represent the company professionally in meetings and communications
- Experience in business development, sales, account management, or lead generation
- Familiarity with the Thames Water Lead Replacement Scheme and/or Developer Services water mains supply processes
- Alternatively, willingness and ability to quickly learn these areas
- Strong communication and relationship\-building skills
- Self\-motivated and comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision
- Good organisational and follow\-up skills
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to water utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction environments
- Basic understanding of plumbing or water installation processes
- Existing industry contacts within developers, utilities, or related contractors
- Experience working with SME or specialist subcontractor businesses
