Joiner and Multi Skilled Handyman

The Role
The Edinburgh Boiler Company is looking for an experienced and versatile Joiner and Multi Skilled Handyman to support our growing Installation Teams.

This is a practical, field\-based role working across boiler, air\-source heat pump, solar PV and air\-conditioning installations. You will complete the joinery and general building work needed to help each project progress safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

You will work closely with engineers, electricians and the Operations Team, taking ownership of tasks such as lifting and relaying flooring, forming access points, boxing in pipework and completing remedial works. You will also help with other practical tasks where your skills can support a safe, tidy and successful installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete joinery and general building work required before, during and after installations.

  • Lift and carefully relay floorboards and other flooring to provide access for installation work.

  • Box in boilers, pipework and associated services to achieve a safe and professional finish.

  • Form, fit and finish access hatches in floors, walls and ceilings.

  • Undertake ceiling works and make good areas affected by installation activity.

  • Lay flooring and create safe access routes within loft and attic spaces.

  • Support with running pipework and hanging radiators where competent and required.

  • Complete practical remedial tasks that help installations remain on schedule and meet the required standard.

  • Work collaboratively with boiler, heat\-pump, solar PV and air\-conditioning installation teams.

  • Protect customers' homes, keep work areas tidy and minimise disruption throughout each job.

  • Identify practical issues early and communicate them clearly to the engineer or Operations Team.

  • Use tools, materials and company equipment safely, responsibly and efficiently.

  • Follow company procedures and all relevant health and safety requirements.

  • Represent The Edinburgh Boiler Company professionally in every customer interaction
Essential Experience and Skills
  • Demonstrable experience across a broad range of joinery and general maintenance work.

  • Confidence lifting and relaying floorboards and flooring without avoidable damage.

  • Experience boxing in boilers and pipework and fitting access hatches.

  • The ability to undertake ceiling works, loft flooring and general making\-good tasks.

  • Practical experience running pipework and hanging radiators, or the ability to work safely alongside qualified heating engineers.

  • A flexible, solutions\-focused approach and willingness to support the wider installation team.

  • High standards of workmanship and close attention to detail.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong time\-management skills and the ability to respond to changing site requirements.

  • A respectful and professional approach when working in customers' homes.

  • A full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience supporting domestic heating, renewable\-energy or air\-conditioning installations.

  • Experience working in occupied residential properties.

  • Relevant trade qualifications or health and safety certification.

  • Knowledge of safe working practices in lofts, confined areas and occupied homes.

  • Joinery and remedial work is completed safely, neatly and to a consistently high standard.

  • Installation teams receive timely practical support, helping projects stay on programme.

  • Customers' homes are protected and left clean, tidy and professionally finished.

  • Potential problems are identified early and communicated clearly.

  • Tasks are completed correctly the first time, with avoidable return visits kept to a minimum.

  • Colleagues experience you as dependable, flexible and committed to working as one team.

  • Customer feedback reflects care, professionalism and respect for their property.
