Actual Salary: approx. £23,000 per annum
*(based on Term Time \+ 6 weeks \= 46 working weeks / 52 weeks of the year)*

Reports to: SENCO / Deputy Headteacher
Job Purpose
The Interventions Coach will provide targeted academic, pastoral, and behavioural support to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential. This role involves delivering 1:1 and small\-group sessions, leading the reading and phonics programme, and supporting students with special educational needs and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver effective 1:1 and small group interventions focused on literacy, numeracy, and emotional or social skills.
- Lead and manage the reading and phonics programme (e.g. Little Wandle).
- Monitor and record student progress, adjusting support where needed.
- Work with the SENCO to implement strategies for students with additional needs or EHCPs.
- Support with behaviour management, including removing students from class when required and re\-engaging them through restorative work.
- Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience, and re\-engagement with learning.
- Contribute to the wider ethos and aims of Blackwater Academy, promoting inclusion, respect, and personal development.
The successful candidate will have experience supporting young people in education or an alternative provision setting. They will be skilled at building positive relationships, communicating effectively, and helping students to overcome challenges.
An understanding of special educational needs and barriers to learning is essential, along with a flexible, patient, and resilient approach.
It would be desirable for candidates to have experience delivering interventions (such as phonics, literacy or social skills programmes), training in behaviour management or restorative practice, and/or a relevant qualification such as Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Youth Work.
