International Controller and Advisor

About the position and tasks
The International Controller \& Advisor will be responsible for overseeing countries and Global Programs that they are assigned to. The role involves proactively providing guidance, training, assistance and quality assurance of budgeting, financial reporting, financial data analysis and highlight Risks, preparation of financial statements for audit and ongoing review and revision of financial procedures, to ensure a reliable, standardised and transparent financial management of DRC’s international programmes / projects.
Your role
This International Controller and Advisor will be key in performing the following tasks:
- Ensure donor compliance across all financial management functions, including budgeting, reporting, and audits
- Quality assurance of donors, countries and projects budgets
- Quality assurance of donors, countries and projects financial reports
- System controlling including project and grant setup and ERP cross\-functional controls
- Conduct high\-level BvA analysis and provide financial insights to relevant stakeholders
- Responsible for identification of financial risks and implementation of mitigation measures
- Control, verify, and process cash forecasts and fund requests
- Capacity building of Country Office Finance and maintain close coordination with counterparts
- Conduct monitoring visits to countries of operation
- Provide field finance input to international finance meetings and working groups
- Contribute to the update and enhancement of Financial SOPs and DRC guidelines
International Controller and advisor role requires strong understanding of humanitarian projects financial management and ability to translate complex financial data into clear operational guidance for diverse stakeholders.
You bring a positive and collaborative personality, strong finance management skills, and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
You are analytical, data\-driven, and comfortable working with systems while supporting and building capacity among colleagues. We are looking for a self\-driven, curious, and solution\-oriented professional who takes ownership, collaborates across functions, and is eager to learn and find answers in a complex operational environment.
Essential:
- Relevant educational background combined with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in finance management and financial controlling.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in facilitating, supporting, monitoring and supervising activity plans, budgets and financial tasks.
- Experience with supporting EU/ECHO/DANIDA/UN or donor funded programmes / projects.
- Full proficiency in an ERP system is a prerequisite and experience with MS D365 Finance Operations as strong asset.
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, planning, coordination and facilitation skills.
- Good cultural understanding and the ability to build confidence of partners in a challenging multicultural environment.
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced proficiency in excel is a prerequisite.
- Fluency in English speaking and writing is a requirement.
- Readiness to work flexible hours and willingness to and interest in travelling to DRC field locations.
- Experience from the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
- Experience from working in development and emergency environments.
- Fluency in Danish, French and or Arabic.

The position is a full\-time position \- 37 working hours per week. The workplace is at Danish Red Cross’ headquarter, Blegdamsvej in Copenhagen. Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Red Cross' collective agreement with HK and AC depending on experience and qualifications.
