Interim Head of Finance / Financial Controller

The Interim Head of Finance/ Financial Controller will oversee the financial operations of a well placed Manufacturing business in South Wales.

With a large and growing workforce and ambitious plans, this role offers real scope to shape the finance function and influence business performance at a senior level.

Reporting to the Finance Director and sitting on the senior management team, the Head of Finance will lead and develop the finance function while driving continuous improvement, strengthening controls, and delivering high-quality insight to support decision-making.

For a qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant, this is an exciting chance to combine technical expertise with commercial influence in a dynamic, manufacturing-led environment.

Key Responsibilities • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team

• Play an active role in the senior leadership team, influencing business strategy


• Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts and group consolidations


• Own budgeting, forecasting and weekly P&L/KPI reporting processes


• Drive cost control initiatives, including Capex management


• Manage cashflow, FOREX exposure and financing arrangements


• Oversee audit processes and ensure implementation of recommendations


• Maintain robust financial controls and ensure regulatory compliance (VAT, Corporation Tax, reporting obligations)


• Improve systems, processes and data integrity across finance operations


• Partner with commercial teams on pricing, tenders and performance analysis


• Oversee payroll, stock control accuracy and insurance programmes


• Manage banking relationships, covenants and funding facilities

A successful Interim Financial Controller should have:

• A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.


• Proven experience in financial management within the manufacturing sector would be desirable.


• Strong technical accounting skills and familiarity with relevant regulations.


• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.


• Proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools.


• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.


• Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.

• Competitive daily rate between £400 and £500 per day via an umbrella company (Inside IR35)


• Interim position for 6-7 months initially


• Exposure to the fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing business.


• 5 days on site
