Interim Head of Finance - Exeter

Butler Rose is seeking a commercially minded Interim Head of Finance for a period of approximately 3 months for a client in Exeter, whilst they recruit on a permanent basis.

Reporting into the Executive Team, you will lead financial strategy, planning and performance, providing the insight and challenge needed to support business decisions, sustainable growth and new market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning.


• Provide commercial insight to support growth, investment and business performance.


• Own cash flow forecasting, working capital and financial controls.


• Partner with the Commercial team on pricing, contract review and profitability.


• Deliver management accounts, Board reporting and financial analysis.


• Ensure compliance across statutory reporting, tax, payroll and audit requirements.


• Lead and develop the finance team while driving continuous improvement.

About You

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).


• Strong experience in FP&A, forecasting, cash management and financial reporting.


• Commercial finance experience covering pricing, margins, business cases and decision support.


• Proven people leadership and stakeholder management skills.


• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced SME, scale-up or growth environment.


• Commercially astute, pragmatic and able to make sound decisions with incomplete information.
