Interim Finance Manager

HW Finance is exclusively supporting a Yorkshire-based organisation with the recruitment of a Finance Manager to cover a period of maternity leave.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or qualified-by-experience accountant to join a purpose-led organisation in a broad and varied finance leadership role. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining a strong financial control environment whilst supporting the wider business through accurate reporting, audit management and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role is expected to commence from mid-to-late October and offers a hybrid working pattern of three days in the office each week, alongside flexible working hours including an early finish on Fridays. This role will be a 15-Month Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover), with the potential of a permanent opportunity at the end of the assignment due to business growth. Salary is based on experience and will be between £50,000 - £70,000 per annum + benefits.

You willtake ownership of core financial reporting and statutory obligations whilst supporting key stakeholders across the organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the monthly management accounts process


• Producing accurate P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reporting


• Managing the year-end audit process and acting as the key contact for external auditors


• Monitoring developments in accounting standards and implementing changes where required


• Supporting compliance with sector-specific reporting requirements


• Driving process improvements and operational efficiencies across finance


• Supporting VAT reporting and compliance activities


• Working closely with the FP&A team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information


• Providing financial support to operational teams across the organisation


• Managing and developing a small team of experienced transactional finance staff


• Contributing to systems and process improvement initiatives following the recent implementation of a new CRM platform

We are keen to speak with technically strong accountants who can provide stability during a key period.

Ideally you will have:

• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience


• Experience leading external audits


• Understanding of balance sheet controls, cashflow management and month-end processes


• Previous team management experience


• A proactive approach with the confidence to identify and implement improvements
