Interim Finance Business Partner
HW Finance is partnering with a growing organisation in York to recruit an Interim Finance Business Partner to join their team on an initial 6-month assignment.
This role offers strong potential for extension or even a permanent opportunity for the right individual.
As Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of business strategy by providing strong financial leadership, governance, insight, and constructive challenge. You’ll enable stakeholders to make informed, value-driven decisions while supporting the organisation’s wider mission.
You’ll also work closely with Group Services, contributing to budgeting, forecasting, month-end processes, and overseeing financial reporting, ledger integrity, and investment activity.
Day to day, this role will look like:
- Work in partnership with the organisation’s stakeholders to identify and understand business issues, risks and financial information needs and provide insight that will add value to the business area.
- Act as a primary contact for finance issues arising in the designated business area(s); providing technical and financial advice and acting as a Finance representative on internal committees and project groups as required.
- Provide the accounting support to the financial and investment teams, ensuring transactions, portfolio balances and fees are accurately recorded and reported.
- Support the business area(s) in the identification and development of suitable benchmarking opportunities and KPIs and where appropriate.
- Support the development and implementation, where relevant, of new ways of working to support the business area(s) ambitions and delivery of organisational objectives.
- Work closely with the Group Services teams to ensure processes run smoothly and financial information and decision support is optimised.
- Support the business area(s) in developing the budget proposals and in exercising budgetary control including the forecast outturn for the year
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly or quarterly management accounts, identify issues that need to be addressed and discuss solutions with the budget holders
- Support budget holders in the preparation of business cases, undertaking financial appraisals, identifying and quantifying associated costs, benefits, risks and finding solutions
- Support the preparation of budgets, financial plans and accounts
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within Finance
We’re looking for someone with a commercial mindset, strong Excel and modelling skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
