Contract: 9 months
Location: London, UK (on-site)
Working Pattern: Part-time (Saturday and Sunday - 9 to 5, 14.6 hrs/week)
About the Role We are seeking a customer-focused and proactive Information Assistant to join our Library Services team. This role provides first-line support to students, staff, and visitors within flagship building, ensuring an excellent user experience across learning spaces, service points, and library technologies.
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will assist customers with enquiries, support the effective use of library facilities and technology, maintain high standards within learning environments, and help create a welcoming, inclusive, and productive space for all users.
Key Responsibilities • Provide front-line support for customer enquiries at service points and throughout library learning spaces.
- Deliver excellent customer service by responding to requests promptly, accurately, and professionally.
- Offer guidance on Library Services, Information Services Division resources, and Student Support and Wellbeing Services, referring complex enquiries where appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with users in person, by telephone, and via email.
- Promote library services, resources, and new initiatives to customers.
- Gather and share user feedback to support continuous service improvement.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues relating to library technologies, including printing services, laptop loans, smart lockers, Wi-Fi, and desktop computers.
- Patrol and monitor learning spaces to ensure compliance with library regulations and maintain a positive study environment.
- Ensure learning spaces remain clean, safe, and well-maintained, reporting and escalating building or furniture issues as required.
- Conduct routine Health and Safety inspections, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly checks.
- Support emergency procedures, including assisting with the evacuation of users with accessibility needs when required.
- Contribute positively to team objectives and support an inclusive and welcoming environment for all library users.
- Previous experience in a customer service-focused environment.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Good IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to use initiative and resolve problems independently.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new systems, technologies, and processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also managing responsibilities independently.
