The Role
The post holder reports to the Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Adviser and supports this post in assuring delivery of NHSL IPC Work plan and associated strategies
S/he will be a valuable member of the IPCT who will assist in the day\-to\-day implementation of the service, providing support and advice to the diverse range of departments within NHSL and dealing with issues addressed within the main responsibilities of this job description. The post holder will also support the achievement of National Standards in relation to HAI, Cleaning Services and Generic Standards.
The working pattern for this role is Monday\- Thursday (08:30\-16:30 3 days and 08:30\-15:30 1 day) Friday 08:30\-16:00\.
In this key role, you will:
- Participate in planning, priority setting and decision making to ensure organisational goals are met and contribute to the development and implementation of IPC guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Initiate/contribute to the development and implementation of clinical audit and subsequent improvements to measure and enhance individual and team performance.
- Demonstrate the ability to function competently as a member of the multi\-disciplinary IPC team, understanding and acknowledging the role and function of other members of the team.
- Participate in the development and implementation of a programme of clinical audit and research activity with other nurse specialists, liaising with the Senior Nurses, Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Centre and the Clinical Effectiveness Department as required.
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
- Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
