J G Pears (Newark) Ltd is a rendering company that takes animal by\-products and turns it into sustainable high\-quality products like bio\-fuels and pet food ingredients.
We are seeking an experienced Import and Export Clerk to be based at our High Marnham site, NG22 0FX.If you are someone who is well organised, strong on detail and thorough and can deal with a fast\-paced environment, this busy role could be for you.
This role forms part of a small team, with working hours are 8 hour days Monday\- Friday covering the hours of 6am\- 6pm (40 hours per week). The position will be predominantly based at High Marnham, with occasional work required at our nearby Low Marnham site, located approximately one mile away.

- Support the global movement of products, demonstrating understanding of international logistics requirements.
- Prepare customer shipments from contract stage through to delivery.
- Organise freight via air, sea, rail, and road.
- Liaise with veterinary services to obtain official health certificates for export shipments, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements for products of animal origin.
- Prepare and produce packing lists, invoices, and export declarations, ensuring all required data is accurately entered into port systems and customs software in a timely manner.
- Import goods using IPAFFS.
- Communicate with relevant network partners and carriers.
- Track and trace all required documentation to ensure customs processes are complete and compliant.
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve queries professionally.
- Prepare and dispatch product samples to customers.
- Apply for documentation through Chambers of Commerce, including Certificates of Origin and ATA Carnets.
- Prepare and submit applications for embassy\-issued certificates, including certificates of free sale.
- Assist with weighing and recording shipment weights.
- Maintain relevant in\-house systems accurately and consistently.
- Ensure all procedures and policies are followed at all times.
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy across all tasks.
- Liaise with internal departments across the group to ensure shipments are processed efficiently.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers to meet operational requirements.
- Answer telephone calls as required.
- Complete general administrative duties related to import and export operations.
- Support weighbridge operations with shipment weighing.
- Liaise with dispatch to ensure accurate loading information.
- Attend company events where required.
Requirements
- Good GCSE/A\-Level results, especially in basic skills such as Maths and English, is required.
- Must be willing to learn new legislations and regulations, new procedures, new systems and adapt fast to the changes.
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential
- The role of Import and Export Clerk requires good interpersonal skills as this can be client facing and so customer care skills are very important.
