About the volunteer role:
The YMCA SPG is at an exciting time of exploring opportunities to expand our brand and the market reach for our various vacancies in London.
We need a volunteer who will support the YMCA SPG with exploring new opportunities for advertising or promoting the brand and our vacancies.
This will involve advertising roles on recruitment advertising platforms, reviewing and improving managers’ adverts on the organisation website, improving recruitment advertising templates and advert copies, and tracking the response to adverts on new platforms.
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is interested in working in HR or a related field.
- Has good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Has a good attention to detail and is able to spot errors in written materials.
- Can accurately document, record and maintain information.
- Is a team player and enjoys working in a team environment.
- Integrity – the role requires appropriate handling of confidential and sensitive information.
- Has some exposure to the use of social media platforms (desirable).
- Exposure to working in an office environment.
- Experience of working in HR and on recruitment specifically. Including training to undertake and deliver any key tasks.
- Insight into HR operations and other aspects of HR work.
- Reference for the future job opportunities.
- To be valued and respected as a volunteer, whoever you are and whatever your background.
- A clear understanding of your role.
- A volunteer induction and events to meet other volunteers and share experiences.
- An identified line manager responsible for providing guidance, supervision and support.
- To keep personal information given to us, private and confidential.

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal chat. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related). You will also need to complete a DBS check as our work involves contact with children and vulnerable adults.
