Bristol (50/50 Hybrid Working) / £75,000 - £82,000 per annum / 12-Month Fixed Term Contract (No extension anticipated)

The Opportunity

A leading professional services organisation is seeking an experienced HR Operations Manager to join its Bristol-based HR function on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role has been created to support a significant period of business activity and transformation, providing leadership across HR Operations, HR Administration and HR Systems.

Working closely with HR Business Partners and Centres of Excellence, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring HR services are delivered efficiently, compliantly and consistently across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of HR Operations and HR Administration services across the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance and high-quality service delivery.


• Oversee all employee lifecycle administration processes, maintaining effective controls and service standards.


• Manage, coach and develop the HR Operations team, creating a collaborative and customer-focused culture.


• Partner with HR Business Partners and specialist HR teams to ensure seamless and integrated HR support.


• Lead the management and optimisation of Workday and associated HR technologies to improve efficiency, data quality and user experience.


• Utilise HR data, reporting and metrics to evaluate service performance, identify trends and drive continuous improvement.


• Manage relationships with external suppliers and service providers, monitoring performance against agreed service levels.


• Review and enhance HR processes, procedures and ways of working to improve efficiency and service quality.


• Support the development and maintenance of HR governance frameworks, controls and operational procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Essential Experience

• Proven experience leading HR Operations and/or HR Administration functions within a complex organisation.


• Strong understanding of employee lifecycle processes and HR service delivery best practice.


• Experience managing, coaching and developing teams.


• Strong HR systems capability, with experience using data and insights to improve operational performance.


• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of business areas.


• A continuous improvement mindset, with a track record of streamlining processes and enhancing service delivery.


• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information professionally.

• CIPD qualification or equivalent experience.


• Experience using Workday or a similar HRIS platform.


• Experience managing third-party suppliers and service level agreements.


• Experience developing HR operating procedures, governance frameworks and controls.


• Experience creating and analysing HR metrics, reports and dashboards.
