Role Purpose

The HR Operations Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth day\-to\-day delivery of HR services across the Marylebone Leisure Group. This role is responsible for keeping the HR function operational, compliant, and aligned with business objectives across all sites.

The successful candidate will bring strong HR generalist expertise, with a particular strength in Employee Relations (ER), and will ensure consistent application of HR policies, processes, and best practices across a fast\-paced, multi\-site hospitality environment.

Working Pattern

  • This is a hybrid role, requiring 4 days per week on\-site (across venues and/or office) and 1 day working from home.

  • Flexibility is required to meet the needs of a dynamic, multi\-site hospitality operation.
Key Responsibilities

HR Operations \& Delivery

  • Oversee and manage day\-to\-day HR operations across all MLG sites.

  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Act as the central point of contact for HR matters across the business.

  • Maintain accurate HR records, systems, and compliance documentation.
Employee Relations
  • Lead on ER case management including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, and absence management.

  • Provide expert, pragmatic ER guidance to site managers and senior leaders.

  • Ensure all ER matters are handled in line with company policy and employment legislation.

  • Support complex and high\-risk cases with a solutions\-focused approach.
Compliance \& Governance
  • Ensure all sites adhere to HR policies, legal requirements, and internal guidelines.

  • Monitor and audit HR practices across locations to ensure consistency and compliance.

  • Identify risks and implement corrective actions where required.
Stakeholder Management
  • Partner closely with the Senior Operations Manager to align HR activity with operational priorities.

  • Build strong relationships with site managers, providing coaching and HR support.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to operational teams on all people\-related matters.
Recruitment \& Workforce Planning
  • Support and oversee recruitment processes across all sites.

  • Ensure effective hiring practices that align with company standards and workforce needs.

  • Collaborate with managers to plan and manage staffing requirements.
Generalist HR Support
  • Provide support across the full employee lifecycle (onboarding, performance management, development, and offboarding).

  • Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support the development of HR processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
Skills \& Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in an HR generalist role, ideally within hospitality or a multi\-site environment.

  • Strong Employee Relations background with experience managing complex cases.

  • Solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.

  • Experience supporting multi\-site operations and working with operational teams.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Highly Desirable (Systems Experience)
  • Experience working with Access Group systems, including RotaReady, Trail, or similar workforce management / HR platforms.

  • Strong understanding of HR systems and data\-driven reporting to support operational decision\-making.
Desirable
  • Experience in high\-volume recruitment environments.

  • Exposure to HR systems and reporting tools.
Qualifications
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or currently working towards).

  • Degree or equivalent experience in HR or a related field (desirable).
Personal Attributes
  • Pragmatic, hands\-on, and solutions\-oriented approach.

  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on compliance and quality.

  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast\-paced, hospitality environment.

  • Able to build credibility quickly and influence stakeholders at all levels.
