HR Manager (Standalone HR Function)

• Location: St Albans


• Job Type: Part time - 30 hours per week (6 hours per day, office based, flexible times)


• Salary: £50,000 (pro rata'd)

Join a successful and growing organisation in a standalone HR role as an HR Manager/Officer. This position offers the opportunity to take full ownership of the HR function, managing the complete employee lifecycle and providing expert guidance and support across the business.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Employee Relations: Lead and manage a wide range of ER cases, provide practical HR advice, and promote a positive workplace culture.


• Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage end-to-end recruitment campaigns, negotiate agency terms, and coordinate effective onboarding programmes.


• HR Administration & Compliance: Maintain HR systems, manage compliance requirements, and produce HR reports.


• Performance, Training & Development: Coordinate performance reviews, support development initiatives, and manage training records.


• Continuous Improvement: Enhance HR policies, identify improvement opportunities, and drive HR best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• CIPD Level 5 qualification or above.


• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a generalist HR role with extensive experience handling complex Employee Relations cases independently.


• Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.


• Experience managing the full employee lifecycle from recruitment through to exit.


• Proficiency in using HRIS systems.


• Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.


• The confidence and credibility to operate as the sole HR professional within the business.


• A proactive, solution-focused, and highly professional approach.
