HR Manager
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to lead and manage all aspects of human resources across Radiant Care Homes.
Radiant Care Homes is an Ofsted\-registered children’s residential care provider based in Reading. We are committed to providing safe, nurturing and high\-quality homes for children and young people, supporting them to feel valued, secure and able to achieve positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will oversee the full employee lifecycle, ensuring HR practices are compliant with UK employment law, safer recruitment standards, Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations and internal policies.
This is a key role for someone who can work independently, provide clear HR advice to managers, support recruitment and compliance processes, and help maintain a positive, professional and well\-organised workplace culture.
Duties
- Lead end\-to\-end recruitment for residential care staff, senior staff and support roles.
- Ensure recruitment processes follow safer recruitment practices and Ofsted requirements.
- Manage DBS checks, references, right\-to\-work checks and onboarding documentation.
- Coordinate staff induction, probation reviews and employee lifecycle processes.
- Provide HR advice and guidance to managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and employee wellbeing matters.
- Support investigations, hearings and employee relations processes where required.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR systems and compliance documentation.
- Review, update and maintain HR policies and procedures in line with employment law and regulatory requirements.
- Support preparation for Ofsted inspections, audits and internal compliance reviews.
- Monitor training compliance, staff sickness, turnover, recruitment activity and HR trends.
- Support managers with performance reviews, staff development and employee engagement.
- Contribute to workforce planning, organisational development and continuous improvement.
- Promote a positive, safe and inclusive working environment across the organisation.
- Proven HR management experience, ideally within children’s residential care, social care, healthcare, education or another regulated setting.
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Knowledge of safer recruitment, safeguarding and compliance requirements.
- Experience handling employee relations cases independently, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Ability to work independently and provide practical HR guidance to managers and senior leaders.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and HR systems.
- CIPD Level 5 or above, or equivalent HR management experience, is desirable.
- Experience within an Ofsted\-registered setting would be highly advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable due to occasional travel to residential homes.
- Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to undergo one.
Pay: £35,000\.00\-£45,000\.00 per year
