HR Manager (part time)
About the Role
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Human Resources Manager to lead and deliver a proactive, professional, and high\-quality HR service that attracts, develops, and retains outstanding staff across our family\-run independent nursery and school.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic HR professional who thrives in a standalone role and enjoys working across the full spectrum of HR responsibilities. You will play a key role in supporting our people, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation and safeguarding requirements.
Key Responsibilities
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
- Lead all HR operations, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, safeguarding requirements, School policies and procedures.
- Partner with the Strategic Leadership Team to identify current and future staffing needs and develop effective workforce planning and recruitment strategies.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding.
- Oversee the end\-to\-end recruitment process, ensuring safer recruitment practices are consistently applied, and all pre\-employment checks are completed efficiently and diligently.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on employee relations matters, including performance management, attendance and absence management, disciplinary issues, and grievance procedures.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant HR records, including responsibility for the School's Single Central Record in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education requirements.
- Develop and implement staff wellbeing, engagement, and recognition initiatives that support a positive and inclusive working environment.
- Manage the payroll budget and oversee monthly payroll processing, including the administration of pension schemes and associated reporting.
We are looking for a proactive and approachable HR professional who combines operational expertise with strategic thinking.
You will have:
- Significant experience in a senior HR management role.
- A recognised HR qualification, ideally CIPD Level 5 or above.
- Up\-to\-date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Strong employee relations experience and the confidence to manage complex HR matters.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Resilience, discretion, and professional judgement required to work independently whilst building strong relationships across the School.
- Experience of payroll administration and pension management.
- Experience within the education sector or a regulated environment (desirable).
