Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm
We are an established solicitors’ firm seeking an experienced and highly organised HR Manager to manage the firm’s day\-to\-day HR function.
The position is available on either a part\-time or full\-time basis, depending on the successful candidate. This is a fully office\-based role at our Palmers Green office and is not a hybrid or remote position.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have previous HR experience within a law firm, although candidates with strong HR experience in another professional services environment will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
· Managing recruitment, including job advertisements, interviews, offers and new starters.
· Preparing employment contracts, offer letters and other HR documentation.
· Managing onboarding, inductions and probation periods.
· Maintaining personnel files and HR records.
· Managing annual leave, sickness absence and other staff absences.
· Advising management on employee relations and day\-to\-day HR matters.
· Managing performance, disciplinary, grievance and capability procedures.
· Managing resignations, notice periods and employee departures.
· Reviewing and updating HR policies, procedures and the Employee Handbook.
· Ensuring the firm’s HR practices remain compliant with current UK employment law.
· Supporting management with staff performance, training and development.
· Liaising with payroll/accounts regarding starters, leavers, salary changes and absences.
· Dealing with staff queries sensitively, professionally and confidentially.
The Ideal Candidate
· Previous experience as an HR Manager, HR Adviser or in a similar HR role.
· Previous experience within a solicitors’ firm or legal environment would be highly advantageous.
· Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
· Practical experience dealing with employee relations, absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters.
· Excellent organisational and communication skills.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Confidence in advising both management and employees on HR matters.
· Ability to work independently and take ownership of the HR function.
· Professional and confidential approach.
A CIPD qualification is desirable but not essential, particularly where the candidate has substantial practical HR experience.
Hours: Part\-time or full\-time
Location: Palmers Green, London – office\-based only
Salary: Depending on experience
