Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 depending on experience
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and professional Housekeeping Assistant to work under the direction of the House Manager/Housekeeper within a private family residence. This is a hands\-on role requiring high standards of housekeeping, attention to detail, discretion, and a flexible approach to supporting the daily operation of a busy household.
The successful candidate will be organised, reliable, physically active, and able to work both independently and as part of a wider household team.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily cleaning of internal areas to an exceptional standard
- Deep cleaning and seasonal cleaning of both internal and external household items
- Laundry, ironing, wardrobe care, and the maintenance of designer clothing and delicate fabrics
- Bed changing, linen care, and linen inventory management
- Preparing guest bedrooms and bathrooms for arrivals
- Monitoring household supplies and reporting stock requirements
- Maintaining housekeeping cupboards, equipment, and storage areas in an organised manner
- Assisting with household organisation projects and seasonal changeovers
- Flower arranging and basic plant care where required
- Running household errands and providing general support to the family as required
- Working respectfully and discreetly around family members, guests, staff, and contractors
- Reporting maintenance issues, damage, or stock shortages to the House Manager
- Reporting signs of pest activity and maintaining high standards of cleanliness to help prevent infestations
- Basic meal preparation and kitchen support, including preparing simple meals, snacks, and refreshments when required.
- Previous experience working within a large private residence, country estate, luxury hotel, or similar high\-standard environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining exceptionally high standards
- Experience caring for luxury furnishings, specialist surfaces, fine fabrics, antiques, artwork, or high\-value household items
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional, discreet, and respectful approach with the ability to maintain complete confidentiality
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Physically fit and capable of undertaking a demanding and active role
- Good communication skills and confidence working alongside family members, guests, staff, and contractors
- Basic IT literacy skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
