Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable, motivated, and hardworking Housekeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previous hotel housekeeping experience and have worked in a Housekeeping Supervisor or Senior Housekeeper role, giving them the confidence to support the housekeeping team and maintain high standards.
As part of the role, you will be responsible for cleaning guest rooms and public areas to a high standard, ensuring health and safety procedures are followed, and assisting with the day to day running of the housekeeping department when required. You will lead by example, helping to maintain excellent levels of cleanliness and guest satisfaction while supporting the General Manager in delivering high hotel standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the housekeeping team during daily operations.
- Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure company standards are consistently met.
- Train and mentor new housekeeping staff.
- Allocate daily room assignments and monitor productivity.
- Ensure all guest rooms are cleaned, serviced, and prepared to the highest standard.
- Make beds, change linen, and replace towels.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and sanitise guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and public areas.
- Replenish toiletries, tea, coffee, milk, towels, and other guest amenities.
- Empty kettles, replace cups, and ensure guest supplies are fully stocked.
- Remove rubbish from rooms and public areas, replacing bin liners as required.
- Dispose of waste correctly at the end of each shift.
- Transport dirty linen to the linen room and ensure laundry procedures are followed.
- Change shower curtains when required.
- Report maintenance issues and health \& safety hazards promptly.
- Carry out minor maintenance tasks where appropriate (e.g. unclogging sinks).
- Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations and all hotel health and safety policies.
- Maintain housekeeping stock levels and inform management when supplies need replenishing.
- Ensure cleaning equipment and trolleys are clean, organised, and fully stocked.
- Process lost property in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Never allow unauthorised access to guest rooms.
- Complete all tasks requested by management and ensure daily duties are completed before the end of each shift.
- Previous experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor in a hotel.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and professional.
- Flexible to work weekends and public holidays when required.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations and health \& safety procedures.
- Experience training and developing housekeeping staff.
- Experience carrying out room inspections and quality control.
- Knowledge of hotel property management systems is an advantage.
