RECEPTIONIST (PART\-TIME) – REAL\-WORLD ROLE, REAL RESPONSIBILITY

Hotel 261 – Shepherd’s Bush, London

This is not a conventional receptionist role.

You do not need experience or qualifications.

You do need maturity, confidence, and absolute flexibility.

THE ROLE (READ CAREFULLY)

We are hiring two part\-time receptionists for a small independent hotel.

You will often be the only staff member on site.

You must be comfortable with:

  • Working late nights and weekends

  • Sleeping on site during night duty

  • Handling difficult or intoxicated guests calmly and assertively

  • Making practical decisions using common sense
SHIFT PATTERNS (NON\-NEGOTIABLE)
  • Day shift: 11:00–17:00

  • Night shift: 17:00–11:00 (next day)
Hotel closes at 23:30

You sleep on site and reopen at 08:00

Morning check\-outs until 11:00

You must be flexible across weekdays and weekends.

PAY

  • Day shift: £72 per shift

  • Night shift (including sleep\-in): £144 per shift
WHAT MATTERS (MORE THAN EXPERIENCE)
  • Clear, confident spoken English

  • Assertive but controlled communication

  • Comfortable working alone at night

  • Clean, organised, and observant

  • Reliable and flexible (essential)

  • Ideally based locally, with a commuting time of no more than 30 minutes
Hospitality experience is not required.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

  • Not a desk\-only role

  • Not suitable if you cannot stay overnight

  • Not suitable if you avoid confrontation

  • Not suitable if you need fixed days or hours

Night shifts include extended quiet hours when the hotel is closed.
  • Clear boundaries between work and personal life
When your shift ends, it ends. No follow\-up calls or off\-duty expectations.
  • A small, respectful team
Common sense, reliability, and professionalism matter more than hierarchy or politics.
  • Practical, transferable life skills
Independence, decision\-making, responsibility, communication, and calmness under pressure.
  • Stable and predictable scheduling
Clear shift patterns allow better planning outside work.
  • Fair holiday entitlement
Full\-time staff receive one month of paid holiday; part\-time roles are paid pro rata.
  • Compatible with longer\-term personal goals
Works well alongside study, qualifications, or independent projects.
