Department: Maintenance / Operations
Salary – up to £35K per annum
40 hours per week with the flexible working patterns, participation in emergency calls or during weekends when necessary.
Role Purpose
The Hotel Maintenance Person is responsible for ensuring that the hotel building, guest rooms, public areas, equipment, grounds, and facilities are kept safe, functional, clean, and well maintained. The role supports the smooth daily operation of the hotel by carrying out repairs, planned maintenance, safety checks, and general upkeep while maintaining high standards of customer service and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
· Carry out day\-to\-day repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel, including guest bedrooms, bathrooms, public areas, staff areas, kitchens, meeting rooms, external areas, and plant rooms.
· Since the hotel has substantial grounds, the person will have to maintain external areas including car parks, pathways, gardens, fencing, signage, drainage systems, and outdoor lighting.
· As we focus on reducing utility costs, he may need to assist in monitoring energy consumption and report opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.
· For security responsibilities, assist with maintaining the security of hotel buildings, plant rooms, service areas, and grounds by reporting defects and ensuring access controls remain effective.
· Respond promptly to emergency situations including power failures, water leaks, equipment breakdowns, security concerns, and guest\-related maintenance issues.
· Respond promptly to maintenance requests from management, reception, housekeeping, and other departments.
· Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, decorating, and general repair tasks within the limits of competence and safety requirements.
· Inspect hotel facilities regularly to identify maintenance issues, defects, hazards, or areas requiring improvement.
· Ensure guest rooms and public areas are maintained to a safe, clean, and presentable standard.
· Carry out planned preventative maintenance checks and keep accurate records where required.
· Monitor and maintain equipment, fixtures, fittings, heating, lighting, water systems, and other building services.
· Assist with moving furniture, setting up rooms, minor refurbishments, and general site preparation when required.
· Report any specialist repair requirements to management and liaise with external contractors when authorised.
· Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company policies, health and safety standards, and relevant legal requirements.
· Support fire safety, security, water hygiene, and other statutory checks as directed by management.
· Maintain tools, equipment, storage areas, workshops, and maintenance supplies in a safe and organised condition.
· Provide polite and professional service when working around guests, visitors, suppliers, and colleagues.
· Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by management to support the efficient running of the hotel.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
· Follow all company health and safety procedures and report hazards, accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
· Carry out and maintain records of routine statutory compliance checks including fire alarm testing, emergency lighting inspections, water hygiene monitoring, fire door inspections, and other safety\-related checks as required.
· record maintenance activities, defects, and completed works accurately using hotel maintenance logs or property management systems
· Use tools, equipment, ladders, chemicals, and personal protective equipment safely and correctly.
· Ensure maintenance work areas are left clean, safe, and secure after completing tasks.
· Do not undertake specialist work, including electrical, gas, or high\-risk tasks, unless appropriately qualified and authorised.
· Support the hotel in maintaining a safe environment for guests, staff, contractors, and visitors.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
· Previous maintenance, facilities, property, hotel, hospitality, or building services experience is desirable.
· Good practical skills and confidence carrying out general repairs and maintenance tasks.
· Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, carpentry, painting, decorating, and general building upkeep.
· Basic IT skills, knowledge of fire safety system \& ability to use maintenance management log/software.
· Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and respond quickly to urgent maintenance issues.
· Good communication skills and a helpful, professional attitude.
· Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
· Awareness of health and safety requirements in the workplace.
· Flexible approach to working hours, including possible evenings, weekends, bank holidays, or call\-outs depending on business needs.
· Ability to lift, carry, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks safely.
· Relevant trade qualifications, maintenance certificates, or health and safety training would be an advantage.
Working Relationships
The Hotel Maintenance Person will work closely with the General Manager, Duty Manager, Housekeeping, Reception, Food and Beverage, Events, external contractors, and other operational teams to ensure that the hotel operates efficiently and that guest expectations are met.

Pay: £32,000\.00\-£35,000\.00 per year
