Homeless Support Worker
Working Pattern: Part\-Time – 3 Days per Week (Monday, Tuesday \& Wednesday), 9\.30\-5\.30 with a 30 minute unpaid break per day.

Role Overview
We are seeking an organised, proactive, and compassionate Part\-Time Homelessness Support Worker to support asylum seekers who are exiting Serco accommodation following a positive immigration decision.
The role focuses on preventing rough sleeping by supporting service users to obtain a live housing application with the local authority and secure suitable tenancies within the private rented sector. The successful candidate will work closely with the local authority, landlords, third sector organisations, Serco, and the Home Office to support service users through the move\-on process and achieve sustainable housing outcomes.
The role involves housing support, homelessness prevention, partnership working, and a significant proportion of front\-of\-house duties, supporting asylum seekers with walk\-in enquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- Support asylum seekers who are exiting Serco accommodation following a positive immigration decision.
- Assist service users to obtain and maintain a live housing application with the local authority.
- Support front\-of\-house operations, assisting asylum seekers with walk\-in enquiries, updates, understanding correspondence and other straightforward matters to reduce pressure on the appointments system.
- Work in partnership with local authorities and landlords to identify suitable tenancy opportunities and match service users to appropriate PRS accommodation.
- Support service users with property viewings and sign\-ups, secure tenancies and move\-in arrangements.
- Support referrals into third sector temporary accommodation services where appropriate.
- Deliver homelessness prevention work through embedded referral pathways.
- Liaise with partner agencies to support homelessness prevention, move\-on pathways, and positive housing outcomes.
- Represent the service professionally at partnership meetings and multi\-agency discussions where required.
- Maintain accurate records, spreadsheets, case notes, and administrative paperwork relating to service users and housing progression.
- Ensure service user information and housing updates are recorded accurately and within required timescales.
- Contribute positively to the wider team through attendance at meetings, training, and service activities as required.
- Maintain awareness of safeguarding responsibilities, confidentiality, and compliance with organisational procedures, relevant legislation.
- Experience working within homelessness services or previous experience supporting asylum seekers
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast\-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work professionally with vulnerable individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Good understanding of safeguarding principles and professional boundaries.
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and case management systems.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information appropriately.
- Strong problem\-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of asylum support systems, Home Office processes, and move\-on pathways following asylum decisions.
- Experience working with asylum seekers, refugees or homeless individuals
- Understanding of housing legalisation and tenancy support
- Experience of partnership working with statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
- Additional community languages would be advantageous.
- UK driving license
