Female Only Personal Carer Assistant Days/Nights \- Assisted Living for a Young Adult in her own home

Personal Healthcare Assistant required to join an existing team to care for a young lady with cerebral palsy and who requires help with all aspects of daily living. Although a wheelchair user with limited communication, she enjoys the company and interaction of others, trips out of the house and has a fun and happy personality.

Prerequisites: Due to the nature of the position there is a Genuine Occupational Requirement to recruit female Personal Assistants only. A current UK driving licence is also a prerequisite as you will be expected to drive the young adult to appointments and outings in her own wheelchair adapted vehicle.

Duties will include drug administration, PEG feeding and airway maintenance as well as a full range of personal care, positional care and physio as required. As this is assisted living you will be expected to undertake light household duties – washing, cleaning, ironing, changing beds etc. Experience with PEG feeding, oral suction and drug administration is beneficial.

In your role as a Personal Assistant, you would require the following skills and qualities: A warm and caring approach with a bright and stimulating, positive personality and a genuine desire to help a young person to interact and develop. Good clear communicator for handover at shift ends and with medical observations. An ability to work professionally alongside co\-workers. Willingness to learn, develop your own skills further \& keep up to date with best practice. Ability to recognise and work strictly within medical and drug protocols which have been developed for this client’s needs.

Shifts: are flexible normally 4 days on 4 days off up to 48 Hours/week, day shifts and night shifts – but willing to discuss other patterns. In this role you will be working with a colleague or on your own. The hourly rate is from £14\.36 to £18\.22\. Enhanced rates for Bank Holidays, Christmas, New Year etc up to £22\.30/hour.

You will be auto\-enrolled into the NEST Pension Scheme. You will be paid accruable annual leave, paid training, negotiated flexible working patterns. Training/refresher training will be given in PEG Feeding, Drug Administration, Moving \& Handling, Suction, Epilepsy Care and Physiotherapy.
