Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Stockport Location: Stockport

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Stockport. This is a full-time, long-term position working across KS1 and KS2.

The successful candidate will be confident taking the lead in the classroom, delivering lessons and covering PPA sessions across different year groups. The role will involve limited planning and marking responsibilities, making it ideal for an experienced TA looking to take the next step in their career without the full responsibilities of a class teacher.

The Role: • Leading whole-class lessons and activities across KS1 and KS2.

• Providing regular PPA cover for class teachers.


• Supporting pupils' learning, behaviour and development across different year groups.


• Working alongside class teachers to ensure continuity of learning.


• Taking responsibility for the classroom when covering lessons.


• Completing limited planning and marking as required.

The Ideal Candidate: • Holds a Level 4 Teaching Assistant qualification or an equivalent qualification.

• Previous experience working as an HLTA or in a senior TA role.


• Confident leading a class independently.


• Experience delivering lessons and PPA cover.


• Comfortable working across both KS1 and KS2.


• Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.


• Adaptable, reliable and able to quickly build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take on greater classroom responsibility within a supportive Stockport primary school, while maintaining a manageable level of planning and marking.
