Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a strong background in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to work in schools across Northampton and the surrounding areas.

This role aligns closely with the Government's recent SEND White Paper, Every Child Achieving and Thriving, which places a strong emphasis on early intervention, inclusive mainstream education, and ensuring that children with additional needs receive the right support at the right time. The reforms highlight the growing importance of skilled support staff, including Higher Level Teaching Assistants, in delivering targeted interventions, supporting individual learning plans, and helping pupils with SEND achieve positive outcomes within mainstream settings. As schools continue to strengthen their inclusive provision, experienced HLTAs with SEN expertise will play a vital role in supporting both pupils and teaching staff, making this an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future direction of SEND education.
The Role:
- Deliver planned lessons and interventions in the absence of the class teacher.
- Support pupils with a variety of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide tailored support.
- Assist in creating an inclusive and positive learning environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate.
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- A patient, flexible, and proactive approach.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
