This role is 35 hours per week, term\-time only (plus 5 training days).

Overview
LRL Education is an alternative provision supporting young people who are not currently accessing mainstream education, including those with SEND, SEMH needs, and disrupted educational histories.
We are seeking a confident and capable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)to support the delivery of high\-quality, relationship\-led education. This is not a passive support role — you will be expected to take an active role in engaging, regulating, and progressing learnerswho can present with complex needs.
You will work as part of a small, experienced team to deliver a Stage\-Not\-Age curriculum, supporting both academic progress (English, Maths, Science) and personal development (CRACLL framework).
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and delivery of adapted, engaging lessonsfor small groups and 1:1 learners
- Deliver targeted interventions in English and Maths, based on baseline assessment
- Provide consistent support for pupils with SEMH, autism, ADHD, and additional needs
- Implement behaviour regulation strategiesin line with LRL’s relational approach (Regulate → Reflect → Reconnect)
- Contribute to and deliver Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)and personalised provision
- Build strong, professional relationshipswith pupils to improve engagement and attendance
- Support safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral development of all learners
- Supervise and support pupils during sessions, transitions, and enrichment activities
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistency of provision
We are not looking for passengers. You need to be able to hold a room, build relationships, and move students forward.
Essential:
- Experience working with young people in an educational, alternative provision, or care setting
- Strong behaviour management and relationship\-building skills
- Ability to support learners with SEMH and SEND needs
- Clear, confident communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- HLTA status or equivalent experience
- Experience delivering interventions or leading small group sessions
- Understanding of trauma\-informed practice
