HGV Tanker Drainage Engineer
Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated HGV Tanker Drainage Engineer to join our drainage operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating HGV tanker vehicles to carry out drainage maintenance, sewer cleansing, septic tank emptying, waste\-water removal, flood response, and emergency drainage works for commercial, industrial, and domestic customers.
The role requires a strong commitment to health and safety, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain HGV tanker vehicles and associated equipment.
- Carry out drainage cleaning, jetting, desilting, and tanker operations.
- Empty septic tanks, cesspits, interceptors, and pumping stations.
- Remove liquid waste and transport it to approved disposal facilities.
- Respond to emergency drainage call\-outs and flooding incidents.
- Use high\-pressure water jetting and vacuum equipment safely and effectively.
- Identify drainage defects and report findings to supervisors and customers.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism on site.
- Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Participate in out\-of\-hours call\-out rotas when required.
- Valid HGV Class 2
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Experience operating tanker, vacuum, or jetting equipment.
- Good understanding of drainage and wastewater systems.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including emergency call\-outs.
- High Pressure Water Jetting Association (WJA) certification.
- Experience within drainage, utilities, environmental services, or waste management industries.
- Safe vehicle operation.
- Tanker and vacuum system operation.
- Drainage fault identification.
- Comply with all company and legal health and safety requirements.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Conduct risk assessments and dynamic site assessments.
- Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and equipment defects promptly.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with environmental and waste management regulations.
