Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV / LGV / Technician / Mechanic / Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of heavy\-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. Duties

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on heavy vehicles such as lorries, excavators, and forklifts

  • Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams; perform repairs accordingly

  • Fabricate or modify components using welding, soldering, and hand tools to meet operational requirements

  • Repair or replace mechanical parts including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems

  • Utilise power tools and specialised equipment for assembly, disassembly, and repair tasks

  • Perform electrical repairs involving wiring, circuit boards, and electrical systems within vehicles and machinery

  • Assist with equipment repair and maintenance to minimise downtime and optimise efficiency

  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations; maintain a clean and organised workspace

  • Keep detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities for compliance purposes
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in vehicle or equipment repair with strong mechanical knowledge

  • Proficiency in reading schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals

  • Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering

  • Experience working with heavy machinery including excavators and forklifts is desirable

  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and assembly processes

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; physically fit to handle demanding tasks

  • Good understanding of electrical systems within vehicles or machinery

  • Strong problem\-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Customer service orientation; able to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients

  • Relevant qualifications in automotive engineering or mechanical fitting are advantageous
