HGV / LGV / Technician / Mechanic / Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV / LGV / Technician / Mechanic / Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of heavy\-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on heavy vehicles such as lorries, excavators, and forklifts
- Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams; perform repairs accordingly
- Fabricate or modify components using welding, soldering, and hand tools to meet operational requirements
- Repair or replace mechanical parts including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems
- Utilise power tools and specialised equipment for assembly, disassembly, and repair tasks
- Perform electrical repairs involving wiring, circuit boards, and electrical systems within vehicles and machinery
- Assist with equipment repair and maintenance to minimise downtime and optimise efficiency
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations; maintain a clean and organised workspace
- Keep detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities for compliance purposes
- Proven experience in vehicle or equipment repair with strong mechanical knowledge
- Proficiency in reading schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals
- Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering
- Experience working with heavy machinery including excavators and forklifts is desirable
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and assembly processes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; physically fit to handle demanding tasks
- Good understanding of electrical systems within vehicles or machinery
- Strong problem\-solving skills with attention to detail
- Customer service orientation; able to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
- Relevant qualifications in automotive engineering or mechanical fitting are advantageous
Pay: £33,524\.75\-£53,868\.55 per year
