Healthcare Assistant Lead
Lead Healthcare Assistant required for the Pilot with Dublin Central Mission \- candidates must have legal permission to work full time in Ireland.
The Lead Healthcare Assistant will manage and oversee the duties of the HCA team ensuring that care is given to a very high standard while also providing appropriate household and personal care support to residents while Care will be provided in a domiciliary setting as part of a care package to support residents to continue living independently in their home. This role will involve working alongside the Pilot Lead, oversight of the Pilot care hours on specific sites, attending Pilot meetings and include supporting with the meals on wheel service facilitated from Beaufort day centre.
Eligibility Criteria
·
o Hold a minimum of 2 QQI Level 5 modules in Healthcare.
o Desirable 8 modules completed in QQI level 5 in Healthcare or Equivalent
o Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in the elder care sector
o Knowledge of the elder care sector
o Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
o Computer skills and ability to produce the required administrative reports and documents as required.
o Ability to resolve problems and de\-escalating matters before they reach the Pilot Lead or Head of Older Persons Services.
o Ability to work on own initiative.
o Experience in leading teams
o Excellent communication skills with a flexible and innovative attitude to the role.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities

o Lead and direct the Healthcare Assistant team.
o Ensure Personal Protective Equipment and all necessary equipment required is available for HCA use.
o Ensure all Infection, Prevention and Control measures are adhered to at all times.
o Ensure all compliance measures are adhered to in accordance with required standards.
o Attend to residents needs in their own home.
o Carry out a range of care tasks for residents as indicated in their care plan.
These tasks include personal care, light household care and social care such as: assisting residents to dress/undress, assist with toileting and personal hygiene, prompting residents to take medication, preparing meals, householding cleaning tasks, making beds.
o Maintain appropriate records of residents visited as required.
o Ensure that resident services are delivered by working within a flexible team rota and to be flexible as regards to the duties they undertake.
o Able to work on your own initiative and to take guidance from others when needed.
o Report any concerns about a resident to your line manager immediately.
o Ensure to keep the Pilot Lead informed of any operational matters that may arise.
o Address any employee relations matters as they arise and consult with both the Pilot Lead and or Head of Older Persons Services in relation to same.
o At all times to present a professional and caring image and to demonstrate behaviours reflective of Dublin Central Mission’s ethos of Welcoming, Serving and Supporting.
o To adhere to resident confidentiality and GDPR guidelines.
o Work closely with and support to the other HCA leads in our Independent living services.

o The Lead Healthcare Assistant is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of themselves and others so far as is reasonably practicable.
o Be familiar and comply with the safety, health and welfare provisions as set out in the Safety Statement, safety regulations and prevailing safety legislation.
o Attend all mandatory Health \& Safety Training and participate in fire drills and observe fire orders.
o Report all accidents/incidents/near misses in line with Health and Safety Legislation.

o Maintain and oversee records for the Pilot, and support the Pilot Lead as required.
o Ensure that all administrative duties under the remit of the Healthcare Assistant Lead are completed.
o Input data into systems – Softworks as they pertain to attendance and rostering

o Complete training requirements to maintain competency and capability.
o Identify professional education and learning needs
o Take on other such duties as Management may require from time to time.
o Develop an understanding / knowledge of regulatory bodies and the role they play in elder care.
o Work as an active member of the team and attend staff meetings as required.
