About Us

Darraglynn Nursing Home is a purpose\-built, single\-storey facility set in mature landscaped gardens in Douglas, Cork. We provide high\-quality care for 26 residents in a warm, friendly environment.

We are currently seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated team.

Role Overview

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work as part of our care team to ensure the comfort, dignity, and well\-being of our residents. This is a hands\-on role, requiring compassion, reliability, and flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and nights where required.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities (e.g. washing, dressing, toileting)

  • Assist residents with mobility and transfers using appropriate equipment

  • Support residents during mealtimes, including assistance with feeding where necessary

  • Monitor and record residents’ health and well\-being, reporting changes promptly to duty Nurse

  • Maintain accurate and up\-to\-date care records in line with policies and procedures

  • Promote dignity, respect, and independence in all interactions with residents

  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment

  • Participate in activities to support residents’ social, emotional, and recreational needs

  • Work collaboratively with nurses, care staff, and other team members

  • Adhere to all health, safety, and infection control guidelines
Requirements
  • QQI / FETAC Level 5 qualification in Care of the Older Person / Health Care Support or equivalent (essential)

  • Previous experience in a nursing home setting is desirable, but training will be provided

  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written

  • Genuine interest in working with older people

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Flexibility to work a variety of shift patterns, including weekends and nights

  • All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory references and Garda Vetting clearance
Minimum Expected hours per week (Full time): 36 hours

Minimum Expected hours per week (Part time): 18 hours

Job Type: Full\-time

Pay: €15\.50 per hour
