Job Title: Health and Safety Officer

Salary: £39,130 \- £46,856 (Band D) per annum (pro rata £19,565 \- £23,428 per annum)

Working Hours: 17\.5 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Location: Balloch, with hybrid working model of 1\-2 days per week in the office

Please note the National Park Authority does not hold a sponsor licence and is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK for the duration of their employment.

The Role:

An exciting new opportunity has become available to work as part of our HR team within the National Park Authority. We’re looking for someone to join as our Health and Safety Officer. You will provide professional advice, guidance and practical support on all health and safety matters across the Park Authority.

You will lead the continuous development of our health and safety management systems and promote a positive, supportive and practical safety culture where health and safety is seen as an enabler rather than a barrier.

We're looking for someone who can build strong relationships, influence positively and help managers take ownership of health and safety within their teams. You'll bring expert knowledge, sound judgement and a collaborative approach, helping us create an environment where people can work safely, confidently and effectively.

Who we are looking for:

Your skills, abilities and experience should include:

  • Experience providing practical Health and Safety advisory services across varied work environments (office, field, maintenance).

  • Comprehensive understanding of current occupational Health and Safety legislation and practice.

  • Experience developing Health and Safety policies and procedures.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to produce and present formal reports and training sessions.

  • Collaborative approach with patience and diplomacy.

  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.

  • Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards).
Ideally, but not essential, you’ll also have:
  • Experience working within the public sector.

  • Experience in an environmental or conservation\-based organisation.

  • Knowledge of mental health first aid

  • Training or certification in fire safety
