Health & Safety Manager, Adamstown, Lucan, Co. Dublin
Role Overview:
The Health \& Safety Manager will support the management of health, safety and workplace risk across the Giraffe Childcare Group early years childcare centres.
Reporting to the CEO, and based in our Central Support Office in Adamstown, Lucan, Co. Dublin, the role will provide practical advice, support and oversight to ensure safe environments and compliance with Irish Health \& Safety legislation, HSA requirements, Tusla Early Years requirements and Company policies.
Project management will be a key part of the role, with responsibility for leading and delivering Health \& Safety and wider business projects from planning through to successful implementation. Key Relationships
Internal: CEO, European H\&S Director, Director of Childcare, Area Directors, Centre Directors and Central Support Teams.
External: Health and Safety Authority, Tusla Early Years Inspectorate and other relevant external bodies. Accountability
The Health \& Safety Manager will provide advice, monitoring and assurance to the CEO while supporting management in maintaining appropriate Health \& Safety standards and successfully delivering key projects across the organisation.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide Health \& Safety advice and support across the organisation.
- Maintain and review the Company's Safety Statement, policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular centre audits, inspections and risk assessments.
- Identify Health \& Safety risks and monitor corrective actions through to completion.
- Investigate accidents and incidents and identify preventative actions.
- Support compliance with fire safety, emergency planning, first aid and other workplace safety requirements.
- Support Health \& Safety matters arising from Tusla inspections.
- Identify and monitor Health \& Safety training requirements.
- Provide regular reporting to the CEO on key risks, incidents, audit findings and outstanding actions.
- Ensure appropriate oversight of premises compliance, facilities\-related Health \& Safety requirements and associated audits.
- Lead and deliver key projects and initiatives across the business, ensuring agreed objectives, timelines and outcomes are achieved.
- Ensure all centres maintain compliance with EHO requirements and appropriate food safety management systems, including HACCP requirements where applicable.
- Promote a positive Health \& Safety culture across all centres.
- Group reporting to the European Health \& Safety Director on health and Safety matters.
Essential* Recognised qualification in Health \& Safety or a related discipline.
- Good knowledge of Irish Health \& Safety legislation and risk management.
- Experience in audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigation.
- Strong project management experience with a proven ability to lead and deliver projects from planning through to implementation.
- Strong communication, organisation, influencing and report\-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across a multi\-site organisation.
- Willingness and ability to travel to the UK when required to attend business meetings.
- Full driving licence and ability to travel between centres.
