About the Role

BHI is seeking a proactive and experienced Health \& Safety Compliance Officer to lead and strengthen all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance across our organisation.

This is a newly created, high\-impact role within a complex multi\-occupancy healthcare environment, where you will ensure Health \& Safety is fully compliant, embedded in daily operations, and actively managed across the site. Initially, the appointment is expected to be on a 12month contract basis, with a review at the end of the term to determine ongoing requirements.

You’ll work closely with our Facilities Manager and team, alongside an external Chartered Health \& Safety consultant, to deliver robust governance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Health \& Safety compliance in line with UK legislation (HSWA, RIDDOR, Management Regs)


• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and risk registers


• Oversee risk assessments, COSHH, and safe systems of work


• Manage incident reporting, investigation, and trend analysis


• Ensure statutory inspections and contractor compliance (RAMS)


• Coordinate Health \& Safety across tenants and occupiers


• Conduct audits, inspections, and manage action plans


• Deliver training and promote a positive safety culture


• Provide clear reporting and assurance to the Executive Board

About You

• Experienced in a Health \& Safety role with strong working knowledge of UK legislation


• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)


• Skilled in risk assessment, incident investigation, and compliance systems


• Strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels


• Organised, practical, and solutions\-focused

Desirable:
NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards), IOSH membership, or experience in healthcare/estates environments.
