Head of Supply Chain Assurance
About the role
Balfour Beatty's procurement team is looking for a Head of Supply Chain Assurance to establish and lead a UK\-wide capability that underpins the strength, resilience and integrity of Balfour Beatty’s supply chain. This is a pivotal leadership role, giving you the opportunity to shape how we manage risk, governance and assurance across a complex supply base supporting major infrastructure and construction programmes.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders across procurement, risk, audit and operations to ensure our supply chain is robust, compliant and fit for future growth.
The location for the role is UK Flexible, with regular travel to London.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the design and continuous improvement of the Group Supply Chain Assurance framework, aligned to risk, audit and internal control requirements
- Establish and embed a robust Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) approach covering due diligence, monitoring and supplier lifecycle governance
- Define and implement supplier segmentation models to prioritise assurance activity based on risk, value and criticality
- Deliver a data\-led approach to supply chain risk monitoring, providing early warning insights and actionable intelligence
- Oversee a risk\-based supplier audit and assurance programme, ensuring alignment with Internal Audit and HSQE activities
- Ensure audit findings and control gaps are effectively remediated, tracked and re\-tested to closure
- Provide clear, executive\-level reporting on supply chain risk, performance and emerging threats
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across procurement, operations, Group Risk and external partners
- Lead and develop a high\-performing Supply Chain Assurance team, including offshore capability where appropriate
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier quality, resilience and performance across the supply base
- Senior experience in supply chain assurance, risk, audit or quality within complex environments
- Strong knowledge of Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) and risk\-based assurance methodologies
- Experience working within group risk frameworks, internal controls and audit environments
- Proven ability to analyse data, generate insight and influence senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing assurance or governance frameworks
- Strong understanding of supplier segmentation and lifecycle risk management
- Experience leading and developing small specialist teams, including offshore or shared service models
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to operate at executive level
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of large\-scale, multi\-supplier environments
- A proactive, strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and transformation
