The Opportunity
Tetrad is one of the UK's leading upholstered furniture brands. Our Preston factory produces handcrafted furniture loved by customers, and we take real pride in the quality and care that goes into every piece.
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Operations to take full ownership of the Tetrad site. This is a senior leadership role reporting to our Managing Director with accountability for all manufacturing departments.
You will lead an Operations Manager who in turn manages two Production Managers across the site. This is a replacement hire for a well\-established role. You will be joining a business with strong foundations, a clear set of values, and genuine ambition to keep raising the bar.
The Role
This is a hands\-on leadership position with full accountability for the safety, quality, efficiency and people performance of the Tetrad site. You will be visible on the factory floor, confident making fast decisions under pressure, and equally capable of thinking strategically and working alongside leadership to shape the future of the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Full accountability for operational performance across the Tetrad site \- safety, quality, delivery and efficiency
- Lead, develop and manage the performance of the production team
- Own site capacity and resource planning to ensure the factory consistently meets the build plan and customer commitments
- Set and uphold operational standards across all production departments
- Drive a proactive health and safety culture with full compliance and continuous improvement in risk management
- Work closely with Planning, Commercial, HR functions to align production with business priorities
- Lead the site's continuous improvement agenda, improving productivity, quality and ways of working
- Report site performance to leadership and contribute to the broader operational strategy
- Champion a people\-first culture that attracts, retains and develops great manufacturing talent
- Proven experience as a Head of Operations, Operations Director or equivalent in a manufacturing environment
- Track record of leading managers and building high\-performing operational teams
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate business priorities into operational delivery
- Deep understanding of production planning, capacity management and workflow control across multiple departments
- A visible, decisive leadership style, confident on the shop floor and in the boardroom
- Experience driving continuous improvement and embedding lasting operational change
- Strong H\&S knowledge and a genuine commitment to safety culture
- Excellent communicator, able to influence and build relationships at all levels
- Experience in upholstered furniture, soft furnishings or similar craft manufacturing is advantageous but not essential
